Shoes for Hiking and Trail Running

When hiking or trail running it's best to wear shoes designed for the terrain.  These are the key benefits:

  • Better traction on loose surfaces.  Trail shoes have a more aggressive tread than road shoes and that helps you to be more sure footed on variable terrain.
  • Better durability.  Trail shoes are typically made with more rugged materials that can better withstand the rocky terrain.
  • Foot protection.  Most trail shoes have some form of internal rock plate which protect your feet from the impact of stepping on rocks.
