A Phoenix native, Nathaniel recently joined the Sole Sports team in August 2018. Nathaniel has two older sisters and he is the first runner in his family. As a freshman at Desert Vista, he was considering either band or cross-country. He was told he could participate in both, but he would not excel in either one. Nathaniel took that to mean, choose one. He chose cross-country.
Now a Junior at Arizona State University, majoring in Urban Planning, Nathaniel isn’t sure where is degree will take him. He would also like to get his EMT certification and he can see himself becoming a wildland firefighter.
Nathaniel is most happy trail running and a goal he wants to achieve in the next couple of years is to complete a 100-mile race. He has already taken on a 50K race and a rim-to-rim run in the Grand Canyon.
Outside of school, work and running, Nathaniel is involved in a non-profit organization called Love Your Melon, which raises awareness and funds charitable programming initiatives for children battling cancer. Started in 2012 by two college friends in an entrepreneurship class, who wanted to start a business with a meaningful and positive social impact, their Campus Crew Program is the driving force behind Love Your Melon. The program includes 840 educational institutions nationwide, allowing for thousands of Superhero Adventures and beanie deliveries for children undergoing treatment. Nathaniel is the head of ASU’s Campus Crew.
