Born in the largest Spanish-speaking nation of Argentina, Maria has one brother and became a Sole Sports team member in June 2017. When Maria was young, her mom wanted her kids to know how to water ski, so Maria and the family went on many boating adventures. She also played the glockenspiel in her high school marching band.
Maria has worked full-time throughout her adult life and has spent the majority of her career in the insurance field. Her current position in the insurance industry is as an auditor.
A competitive mountain and road cyclist since 1994, Maria started running in 2009 and has found her niche in the shorter distances like the 5K. She has recently started to improve her swimming skills and would like to give a sprint distance triathlon a try. Eventually, she would also like to get into Xterra triathlon racing.
Outside of her work responsibilities and training, Maria is a big lover of dogs and moonlights as a pet-sitter and walker. She also loves music and traveling. A fun fact about Maria that not many people know is she was a spelling champ, placing 3rd in New Jersey’s 8th grade spelling bee. The word she missed: bureaucracy.
